Dedicated to transforming rural India through innovation, women-led entrepreneurship, and sustainable agricultural solutions grounded in research and field experience.
About Me
I am Shreyash K Sawant, a passionate horticulturist and sustainable development professional from Maharashtra, India. My work focuses on the intersection of agriculture, innovation, and community empowerment — empowering rural entrepreneurs to build resilient and sustainable livelihoods.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture (First Class with Distinction) from Dr. Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth (DBSKKV), Ratnagiri, where I built a strong foundation in research, leadership, and applied agricultural practices.
My academic excellence led to selection among 10 outstanding undergraduates from across India for international training at Western Sydney University, Australia under the NAHEP-IDP (ICAR & World Bank) program — focusing on Agri-Entrepreneurship and Leadership.
Currently, I serve with the BAIF Institute for Sustainable Livelihoods & Development, Gujarat, leading large-scale women empowerment and digital inclusion programs like the Digital Sakhi Project, impacting over 40,000 women entrepreneurs in South Gujarat.
Through my professional journey — spanning ICAR’s fieldwork programs, academic research, and rural enterprise development — I have developed expertise in agri-value chains, capacity building, project management, and stakeholder coordination.
