ICAR – Indian Council of Agricultural Research | ELP & RHWE Experience – Shreyash K Sawant
During my tenure under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) initiatives, I actively participated in two nationally recognized experiential programs – RHWE (Rural Horticultural Work Experience) and ELP (Experiential Learning Program).
These programs provided real-world exposure to rural development, horticulture entrepreneurship, and leadership while engaging directly with farming communities, local governance bodies, and extension initiatives.

Major Activities & Achievements
- Appointed Team Leader for the RHWE program, leading rural community development initiatives in Hindale, Devgad.
- Applied academic knowledge in real-world conditions while residing with local farmers and adopting rural lifestyle practices.
- Conducted field demonstrations and workshops to support crop cultivation and promote sustainable horticulture.
- Organized seminars on malnutrition, cancer awareness, pesticide safety, and biodiversity conservation.
- Collaborated with local governing bodies to host awareness campaigns and national festival events at the village level.
- Participated in the ELP program to gain hands-on exposure to horticultural business management and agri-entrepreneurship.
